French Inlays

This client knew she wanted a herringbone floor but once I saw the centuries old stone fireplace she imported from France I knew we had to incorporate the family crest and flour-de-lis into the floor.  We scroll sawed the parts out of walnut and inlayed them into the cherry floor using a hand router technique. We also shade stained the walnut inlays by cooking them in hot sand over the barbecue.  She later renamed me the wood whisperer, I didn’t mind that at all. Finished in a natural penetrating oil of course.
